With very heavy hearts and great sadness, we are sorry to announce that Utata will be closing its doors on September 18th, 2009. We tried very, very hard to solve our location problem but were unable to find a suitable alternative.

All artists will be notified via email or phone call as to when and how artwork can be picked up. Most commission payments are already paid, any that are not will be done by the end of the month. If you have any concerns or problems please call us - we're checking messages and are here finalizing our closure until the end of the month.

Utata's mission was to bring a social and cultural opportunity to the people of this area and it exceeded expectations in virtually every way. It did the job that it was meant to do - and more - and for that we are grateful to the community that supported us, the artists who helped make it all happen, the many volunteers and interns who gave their time and energy and, of course, all of the members and customers who helped make it a success. We are not closing due to financial problems or lack of business and will continue to search for a suitable home.

Special thanks to Jaki Durocher and Dana Edgar who were the "best two out of three" a gallery ever had. Additionally we would like to thank the Town of Windsor, Mayor Paul Beazley and CAO Louis Coutinho, MLA Chuck Porter, Counselor Liz Galbraith, Red Letter Philanthropy Council, Kathleen Hull and Quick as A Wink Theatre Company for their support and assistance.

We would like to extend a very special thank you and public note of appreciation to artist Guenter Burr whose beautiful works of art were the foundation of Utata's success as a gallery. You may contact the gallery at 792-2710 to make arrangements to see any of Mr. Burr's work which we will have in inventory until the end of the month.

Thank you to everyone who helped to support Utata - your contributions helped maked a dream come true. With any luck at all, we will be able to re-open at some point in the near future.
