Generously sponsored by Aquarius Construction, Utata has a plan to assist FEED NOVA SCOTIA with filling its warehouse so it can continue the important work of helping to feed hungry people. Their warehouse is almost empty and they need our help. All of the help that we can collectively give them.
We need hearts as big as Pumpkins. Hants County pumpkins. Utata invites Windsor to show their stuff and help support those in need.
On October 12, 2008 Windsor holds its annual Pumpkin Regatta which includes a parade and a pumpkin-boat race across the Piziquid. Thousands of people from all around Hants, Kings and Halifax Counties attend to share in the fun and Windsor is one of the coolest places on Earth for that Sunday in October.
Our idea is to show Nova Scotia just how cool we really are by filling a pool with food for the Feed Nova Scotia warehouse.
Aquarius Construction will be supplying the pool and the truck to haul it around and Utata will be supplying the able bodies and the one crazy Utatan who will row the pumpkin boat across the water. We'll be in the parade and then in the Regatta and the pool will be "parked" in our parking lot on 40 Water Street. The idea is to fill the pool with food.
Yep. We want to fill a pool with food. And we want you to help.
How Can You Help?
When you come to the Regatta, please bring with you as many non-perishable food items as you can spare. Drop them in the pool on your way to or from the pumpkin boat race. We're conviently located at the finish line so you can't miss us.
Aided by the generous donation of a 401 pound aerodynamic beauty of a pumpkin from farmer Wayne Knox of Berwick, the support of David Hunter of Avonian Place, the assistance of Chuck Porter, MLA and the energetic enthusiasm of the Aquarius and Utata gangs, we may not win the race, but we'd love to win your support for the people who need it most.
After all, hunger is easy to cure. All it takes is a little food.
