Windsor, Nova Scotia - October 4, 2008 - Utata was out in full force helping support the community in one of its most beloved annual events ... the Pumpkin Weigh Off. We were the judges and sponsors of the Pumpkin Carving and Decorating Contests and Catherine Jamieson was the official "weight keeper" for the weigh off.
In the photos above, from top left, going clockwise, we have Ellen Cyr-McKee standing with Windsor Mayor Anna Allen , Meghan McKee who brought along a gaggle of friends who handed out posters (and got their faces painted in the bargain), MLA Chuck Porter shaking the hand of Wayne Knox of Berwick and the 401 pound pumpkin Mr. Knox kindly donated to us so we can enter the Annual Pumpkin Regatta on October 12th.
You're probably wondering why we want to enter the Regatta. Well, we do have an ulterior motive. And it's a doozie. As it turns out, FEED NOVA SCOTIA, the food bank that helps thousands of struggling Nova Scotians has a nearly empty warehouse and a lot of hungry people. Sponsored by Aquarius Construction, Utata will be doing their very best to gather food to help fill those warehouses. We're going to make that pumpkin into a boat and row across the lake. We are. We are.
