At tonight's inaugural Street Punk Thursday event, Guenter Burr (who has a show opening at Utata next Wednesday, November 26, 2008) and Ken Spearing gave us quite a show. From the charming opening remarks and repartee to the fistful of energy that came after as the two painters created works of art in front of a drum playing, dancing, pizza eating crowd of art students, local youth and Gallery members, it was a splendid evening.
Thanks to all who participated ... our fabulous interns who gave out posters, planned activities and pitched in where necessary, Ellen Cyr and Tony Wood who masterminded the entire event, the art teachers at Avon View (David Ritchie), Horton High (Paul Syme) and Kings-Edgehill (Charlotte Marble), Danielle who toted, hung, cleaned and picked up this and that all day long, Kim and Dominic who lent their rhythm and spirit to the event, the guys of AST who gave us good music, Home Hardware who sponsored the painting, Lucky's Pizza who served up a lot of delicious food, the amazing youth artists who allowed us to hang their work, all the Utata members whose support made it possible and, of course, the stars of the evening ... Ken Spearing and Guenter Burr.
