Mike Aube and Heather Cameron

January 24 2009

Mike Aube, playing a selection of original songs from his first CD, Aberdeen Street and his second as yet untitled CD due to be released this summer, was at his charming best tonight at Utata. Accompanied by Heather Cameron on accordian through two solid sets of new and old songs, Mike's "whisky smooth" voice and artful guitar playing were entertaining in a thoroughly "where DID the time go" way. He performs with a laid back energy and intelligence that makes sense when he tells you that he is a former academic with research-scientist aspirations who decided to be a professional musician instead. His lyrics are funny and touching and sometimes profoundly observant about this odd thing we call life.

If you missed this show, don't worry, we'll be having him back in the summer when his second CD is released. We're lucky to have him in town and we hope everyone gets a chance to see him perform.
